DIDI 500
Design It! Build It! Test It! Race It! Sell It!
The DIDI500 competition is hosted by CA-DIDI, St. Bonaventure University, and area manufacturers. Competing in teams of 4, students from area high schools design, build, test, race, and market a rubber band powered car. DIDI500 connects college and high school students, area manufacturers and professors by facilitating a fun-filled, rewarding experience for all involved. During the pandemic, our STEM 2035 Mfg Club teacher champions worked with us to help put together a new version of DIDI 500. A new set of rules was created and rather than having the event in a large auditorium with over 200 participants, we created individual kits for area students. Class-sized kits for area schools are now created, allowing schools to have their own DIDI 500 races. This has opened our eyes to a way of expanding the number of students able to participate in the DIDI 500, as many students do not have the transportation or time to come to campus on a Saturday.
